A graduate of the University of Sherbrooke, François Vachon began his career with Colas in Canada in 1996 as Project Coordinator at Terus in British Columbia, a Group subsidiary in Canada. 

In 1998, he joined Pittman Asphalt in Prince George, British Columbia, as Project Coordinator/Estimator, before being promoted to General Manager.

In 2005, he was appointed Vice President and General Manager of Wapiti Gravel Suppliers, a subsidiary of Colas Canada in Grande Prarie, Alberta, before becoming Vice President of Construction and Manufacturing for Colas Canada in Edmonton, Alberta in 2011.

In the fall of 2013, he was promoted to CEO of Sintra in Quebec. 

He joined the Miller Group in Ontario in 2018 as Vice President, before being appointed President of the subsidiary in 2019. 

In February 2022, François Vachon was promoted to Executive Vice President, Canada.
